Products

The developed  products are for indicating means, retaining means or a combination of both means of wheel nuts and wheel bolts. Under the circumstances that the wheel moves in relation to the hub, the circumstances are created to loosen  the wheel nuts and bolts and the wheel to become de-attached.

Although the general opinion is, that this cannot happen if the nut or bolts are torqued at the level advised by the vehicle, the actual situation is different.

The different forces on the wheel and the hub, can be such that the clamping force is not sufficient enough to retain the wheel to the hub in the same position in all circumstances. Lifting the torque can overstretch the stud or bolt will most likely even damage the stud or the bolt by overstretching or improve the fatigue of the stud.

Experiences also with larger bus fleets – with retained nuts - did confirm that the correct torque doesn’t exclude the loosening circumstances. Broken studs, enlarged stud holes in wheels, did confirm that retainers at the set torque level, introduces different problems.

Also our own test-loosening machine, based on the Junkers principle, did confirm that the nut even at 750 – 900 Nm torque at a 33 mm nut and a 22 mm stud, loosens when the wheel is simulated to move in relation to the hub.

The key work is maintenance and controlling.
